I specialize in adventure tourism and have explored much of the Mayan world: jungles that whisper stories, temples lost in time, and sacred trails. I’ve visited remote coastlines, hidden cenotes, and local communities, learning from their people and ancestral wisdom.

Ángel,Your Trusted Expert
Ángel A. Sánchez Gamboa is a historian and epigrapher at Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), and co-author of Sculptural Monuments of Palenque. He holds a degree in History from UNAM and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Art History. Since 2015, he has worked as an epigrapher on an INAH project focused on the study of archaeological collections in museums across Chiapas.
With extensive experience in the research and conservation of Maya heritage, he specializes in deciphering hieroglyphic writing and interpreting the meaning of pre-Hispanic art. He has published numerous studies on key sites such as Toniná, Palenque, and Chinkultic, and in 2022 organized the First Symposium on Toniná and Its Surroundings, contributing actively to scholarly dialogue in the region.
Exploring alongside him goes far beyond a conventional tour: you will learn to read symbols, dates, and narratives carved into stelae and monuments, uncovering the history and worldview of the ancient Maya in a clear and engaging way. With his guidance, every site becomes a unique, immersive, and unforgettable experience.
